Angkor Keyboard Privacy Policy

Angkor Keyboard ("Angkor Keyboard", "we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, stored, and protected when you use the Angkor Keyboard app, its keyboard extension, and related services.

Raw keystrokes stay private. Angkor Keyboard does not store or transmit a raw keystroke stream. Learning stays on your device unless you explicitly enable community contribution, and Clipboard History stays local unless you explicitly enable Clipboard Sync. Secure fields (such as passwords) and Incognito mode are excluded.

Keyboard Extension and Full Access

Angkor Keyboard's core typing works without Full Access, and typed text is processed on your device. We do not store or transmit a raw keystroke stream.

Granting "Allow Full Access" (an optional iOS keyboard permission) only enables Clipboard capture, custom haptic or sound feedback, and—only if you separately opt in—sending repeated Khmer word-sequence counts to improve suggestions. Secure fields (such as passwords) and Incognito mode are excluded from capture and learning. Account Cloud Sync is controlled separately under Backup & Sync.

Information We Collect

Depending on the features you use, Angkor Keyboard may collect:

Your name, email address, profile-photo URL, and Google or Apple account identifiers when supplied by your chosen sign-in method.
Firebase user identifiers and authentication information.
Device identifiers used for login sessions, security, anti-abuse protection, and device-limit systems.
Account content you create, such as your Crystals (credit) balance, owned and selected themes, saved shortcuts and custom words, and your Premium subscription status.
Alias or technical-word suggestions you choose to submit for developer review.
Your Clipboard History only when you choose to enable Premium Clipboard Sync. Clips are encrypted before upload using an account-scoped key; this is not end-to-end encryption.
Purchase confirmations for subscriptions and Crystals. Payments are processed by Apple; we receive only a transaction receipt to confirm your entitlements and never receive your card or payment details.
On Android only, a push notification token after you grant notification permission, used for account and app alerts. Remote account and support push alerts are disabled on iOS.
Support message text, your account identifier, supplied name or email, timestamps, and ticket status when you use in-app chat.
If — and only if — you turn on "Help improve Khmer suggestions," the app sends counts of repeated Khmer word sequences together with a pseudonymous installation identifier. This is off by default.
Content-free host-app activity dates linked to your account, used to measure app activity. Keyboard-extension usage is not sent for analytics.

On-Device and Local Storage

To work quickly and offline, Angkor Keyboard stores information locally on your device (in a shared App Group the keyboard can read), including your Clipboard History, your selected theme, downloaded themes, a mirror of your Crystals balance, content-free typing totals, learned word selections, and Khmer word-sequence counts. Clipboard History is available to free users and remains on this device by default. Premium users may optionally sync it through their Angkor Keyboard account using account-scoped encryption. Free users keep unpinned copies for 24 hours; Premium users may choose a longer retention period. Other local data is not, by itself, uploaded to us.

How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

Create and manage your account.
Authenticate you and maintain account security.
Provide app features such as themes, Crystals, Premium, saved shortcuts and words, and Clipboard History.
Synchronize selected account content, including your personal dictionary and optional encrypted Clipboard History, across your devices.
Confirm purchases and grant the correct subscription and Crystals entitlements.
Send important account or app-related notifications.
Prevent abuse, unauthorized access, fraud, or harmful activity.
Improve Khmer typing suggestions — only if you have opted in to "Help improve Khmer suggestions."

Third-Party Services

Angkor Keyboard uses trusted third-party services to operate and improve the app, including:

Firebase Authentication
Firebase Firestore
Firebase Cloud Functions
Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android notifications)
Google Sign-In
Sign in with Apple
Apple App Store / StoreKit (for purchases)

These services may process limited information necessary to provide authentication, notifications, storage, synchronization, and purchase verification.

Tracking and Advertising

Angkor Keyboard does not sell personal information and does not use personal information to track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising purposes.

Angkor Keyboard does not display third-party advertisements.

Data Sharing

We do not share personal information except:

When necessary to operate app services
To comply with legal obligations
To protect users, accounts, or the service
With the trusted service providers listed above that support app functionality
With your consent

Data Retention

We retain information only as long as necessary to:

Provide app functionality
Maintain account and support records
Resolve technical or support issues
Meet legal, tax, and fraud-prevention obligations
Protect app security and integrity

When you delete your account, a 30-day recovery period begins. After it ends, we remove account data including your profile, synced dictionary and clipboard records, support conversations, Android notification-token bindings, submitted suggestions linked to the account, and activity markers. Purchase and financial records may be de-identified and retained where required for legal, accounting, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

Your Rights and Choices

You may:

Request access to your personal information
Request correction of inaccurate information
Delete your account and associated data (see below)
Disable notifications through your device settings
Turn off clipboard capture at any time by disabling "Allow Full Access"
Turn off Clipboard Sync or all Cloud Sync at any time under Settings > Backup & Sync
Turn off "Help improve Khmer suggestions" at any time in the app's settings

Some app features may not function properly if certain information is not provided.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account directly in the app under Settings. Your account and associated data are removed after a 30-day grace period. You may also request deletion by contacting us at the email below.

We may retain limited information where required by law, or for security, fraud prevention, or legitimate operational purposes.

Children's Privacy

Angkor Keyboard is a general-purpose typing app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, please contact us.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information stored by the app and related services. Clipboard History stays local unless you enable Clipboard Sync. Synced clips are encrypted before upload using an account-scoped key stored with your account, allowing your supported signed-in devices to decrypt them. This is not end-to-end encryption. No system or internet transmission is completely secure.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted with a revised effective date.
